Common questions
The app shows “No Home Found”.
Your Apple TV needs to be signed in to the same iCloud account as the iPhone or iPad that owns your HomeKit Home, and that Home needs to have at least one accessory paired. Open the Home app on your phone first, confirm you can see your devices there, then return to HomeView Devices on the TV.
The app shows “Permission Needed”.
On the Apple TV, open Settings, then Apps, then HomeView Devices, and turn on Home access. The app will refresh automatically when you reopen it.
I tap the temperature buttons but nothing changes.
The thermostat must not be in Off mode. Scroll down to the mode picker on the detail screen and choose Heat, Cool, or Auto first. The Cooler and Warmer buttons stay grayed out while a thermostat is off.
My new thermostat is not showing up.
Pair the thermostat in the Home app on your iPhone first. New accessories appear automatically the next time you open HomeView Devices on the TV. If it still does not appear, restart the app by holding the TV button on the Siri Remote and swiping HomeView Devices up.
My change takes a moment to apply.
HomeKit sends your change to the thermostat over your network. Most thermostats apply changes within one or two seconds. The yellow “Saving your change” pill appears on screen until HomeKit confirms.
Does this app work in the tvOS simulator?
No. The Apple TV simulator does not provide a HomeKit Home, so the app can only run on a real Apple TV.
System requirements
- Apple TV running tvOS 17 or later
- A HomeKit compatible thermostat paired in the Apple Home app
- Apple TV signed in to the same iCloud account as the Home owner
